More about series 3 plush

Series 3 leans harder into unusual animals than either wave before it. A peacock with a fanned tail. An axolotl with feathered gills. A highland bull with a fringe over its eyes. A mandrill with a sculpted muzzle. These are harder shapes to make as round plush than a bear or a bunny, and the sewing is visibly more ambitious as a result.

The snacks are licensed again — Haribo, Rice Krispies, Jolly Rancher, Babybel, Baskin-Robbins — but the characters keep their names and hangtag bios. Max and Olivia arrived after the original wave and are the two that move fastest.

What is in the Series 3 range

Series 3 is the current wave: fourteen listings, eight at 8 inches and six at 14 inches. It takes the naming idea from the first wave — characters with first names, hangtags with star signs and birthdates — and keeps the licensed snack packets from the second, which makes it the most complete expression of what Snackles plush toys are now.

The species choices are noticeably stranger than earlier waves. There is a pink axolotl with a noodle cup, a peacock whose tail fan is stitched out behind it, two highland bulls at different sizes, a raccoon with a toaster pastry box, and a mandrill that is the only Snackle named after its species rather than given a first name.

Each plush still arrives with its origin story comic, and the snack accessory is still sewn into the paws. What changed in this wave is the face printing: the detail on Marco's raccoon mask and Max's gills is finer than anything in the first two series, which is easiest to see in the 8-inch size where the print has less fabric to stretch across.

The characters and their snacks

At 14 inches the range runs Josh the yellow chick with Haribo cola bottles, Levi the peacock, Lucas the snow-white shaggy one with a Rice Krispies box, Robbie the highland bull, Max the axolotl with an instant noodle cup, and Olivia — deep blue with darker polka dots and a Baskin-Robbins tub held against her chest.

At 8 inches you get Anna the pig with toaster pastries, Lucy the lighter pink version of the same build with strawberry milk candy, Jacob the grey shaggy primate with a bottled drink, Marco the raccoon, Matthew the small highland bull holding a net of Babybel cheeses, Mandrill with a bag of Jolly Ranchers, Olivia again, and Lucas again.

Lucas and Olivia are the two characters made at both sizes, so they are the pair to buy if you want to show the size jump on one shelf. Anna and Lucy are worth knowing about as a pair for a different reason — same body, different colouring, sweeter snack — and they are the two most often bought together as a gift for siblings.

Series 3 and the rest of the ZURU Snackles shelf

Series 3 is the teen range. Josh, Levi, Lucas, Max, Olivia, Robbie, Anna, Jacob, Lucy, Marco and Matthew are characters with human names and human hobbies, and the hangtag leans into that: a birthdate, a star sign, a hobby and an origin story comic that reads more like a school story than an animal fable. The Mandrill is the one animal that slipped into the set. Fourteen Snackles plush toys sit here in two sizes, and the 14-inch plush is the one that carries the face detail best.

The pattern underneath has not changed. Each one is a squeezable plush with short arms built to hold a snack-themed treasure, made from the same super soft fabric as the rest of the line, and every character comes with the accessory already attached. The 8-inch plushies are the practical collecting size; they stand up on their own and look right as a group on a display shelf. The 14-inch plushies are the hugs size. Nothing in Series 3 is licensed, so the prices stay close to the rest of the range.

Where to go next depends on what you liked. If it was the characters, Series 1 is the original cast and the cleanest version of the idea. If it was the snack, Series 2 pairs a shark with Hershey's and a hedgehog with Mentos, and that is the shelf to collect. Snackles Disney covers Stitch, Rex and Minnie. The Super-Sized Snackle is the same design at a bigger super size. The Snackles small size minis and the clip-on charm duo are the cute pocket versions. Fans of the teen cast usually find one favorite here and then start filling the gaps, which is a playful habit the line rewards with room for imagination and a cuddly friend in every box.
